Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be filled (Matthew 5:6).
I am so grateful to You for all that You have done for me. You drew me to Yourself because You loved me and then gave me the best gifts: eternal life and a hunger to know You, experience Your love, and follow You.
But Lord, somewhere along the way in my walk with You, things became familiar, comfortable and I became complacent and lukewarm.
Will You please forgive me for this? Would You fill my heart with fresh hunger for You? Would You birth a new hunger in me?
I don’t want to be satisfied without You. I ask for restored intimacy with You, Jesus, to feast on Your Words of life and for the power that comes from Your Holy Spirit to please and obey You. I want raw desperation so that my heart will reach for more. Birth a new hunger in my heart for You, Jesus.
Desperation like in Mark, Chapter 5, when the large crowd was following Jesus and pressed around Him. A woman who had been suffering with bleeding for 12 years heard about Jesus and thought, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.” In her desperation, she reached out and touched Your garment.
May I have the desperation to reach out to You with hunger like this woman did, with urgency, reaching, longing, thirsting, with a sense of expectancy, and fervency. Give me the hunger to reach out to You with fresh determination to seek and find You.
As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for You, my God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God, when can I go and meet with God? Psalm 42:1-2
Please give me the desperation that David had when he was in the desert of Judah in Psalm 63:
You God, are my God.
Earnestly I seek You.
I thirst for You.
My whole being longs for You
In a dry and parched land
Where there is no water.
Your love is better than life…
I cling to You…
Your right hand upholds me…
Please give me a heart that longs to spend time with You like David did.
He said in Psalm 119:20...
My soul is consumed with longing for Your laws at all times.
Oh God…may my soul be consumed with longing.
Please give me a heart that is desperate for your touch, A hunger that presses in…to know You and to love You more. May I have the desire to really desire You. Please give me the intimacy that comes from knowing You through prayer, with Your Word alive in my heart. Release the hunger so that I'll have breakthrough to see You more clearly and love You more deeply. Release the hunger in my heart, my family, my church and in this generation! In the name of Jesus I pray, Amen.
